Matt Schmieder aka Boon was homegrown in Grand Rapids, Michigan. When he realized he needed to be closer to big mountains he picked up and moved to Washington State. After years of working as a project manager for a construction company in Tacoma, Boon decided to transition his life to focus on being, living, and working outside.
Boon is a skier, mountaineer, rock climber, trail runner, surfer, biker, whitewater kayaker and so much more. Boon is that person who is waking you up at 4 a.m. with a smile on his face for a dawn patrol ski. His goofy upbeat demeanor is matched perfectly with his professionalism in the outdoors. Boon has worked on search and rescue teams, as a guide, holds an Avalanche Level II and is a Wilderness First Responder.
Boon has found himself on top of most of the volcanoes in the Pacific Northwest including Mt Rainier on multiple occasions. He has surfed big waves in Mexico and rock climbed up and down the West Coast.
When Boon isn't working you can find him hanging with his pup Chlea and getting after it with his buddies in the mountains and on the rivers of Northwest Montana.
