Lauren Melevin grew up swimming in the Pacific Ocean and playing in the Oregon cascades. She has been exploring the surrounding Whitefish area for the past three years. Pastimes that have carried over from the days of Lauren’s youth include snowboarding and playing soccer. While travelling abroad for a semester as a high school senior and crossing the US to attend the University of Vermont many new adventure sports began to present themselves. She now loves to river raft, mountain bike, rock climb and fly fish. These activities have shaped Lauren to be the fun loving adventurer that she is today. She continues to focus on gaining safety education in all disciplines and appreciates the active practice of combining safety and fun.
The value of travel continues to be very important to Lauren. This is inspired by her early involvement in a K-12 Spanish Immersion program. She has first hand experience of alternative education programs providing lifelong inspiration. Lauren spent a year volunteering in an ESL(English as a Second Language) Classroom and while attending the University of Vermont, she worked as an advisor for the Study Abroad department. She is an experienced ski and snowboard technician, raft, sea kayak and zipline guide. She values alternative teaching techniques and student empowerment through education, athletics, and study abroad.
