Andy was born in Denver, Colorado and spent much of his early life traveling the world, following his father around on business. In 8th grade, after visiting family in Montana and realizing the skiing is only ten minutes away, Andy and his siblings devised a plan to move to Montana. Knowing Mom was weary from the constant, bumper-to-bumper trips up I-70, and knowing that she was the only one really needing convincing, the Connelly kids went to work on her first. Upon hearing that the free Snow-bus in Whitefish would end her days as a chauffeur for aspiring ski bums, she cast her vote in favor, and the family moved north. This move changed Andy’s relationship with the mountains from a weekend affair, to an everyday passion and obsession. This obsession led him to Montana State, after seeing it in the “Top 5 Powder Universities” in Powder Magazine. He logged countless days in the mountains, and also managed to come out of the experience with a degree in Education, a degree in History, and a minor in Political Science. After graduating, he moved back to Whitefish where he has been working as a counselor at a nearby therapeutic boarding school for eight years, and has been a part of the RIDGE team since it’s’ inception. When he is not sharing his outdoor passions with kids, you will find him in the mountains, lakes, and rivers of Montana.
